When staff at Norwich florist shop Margaret Emms arranged their first bouquet, the Cuban Missile Crisis was at its height, James Bond was taking on Dr No in cinemas, and Norwich City won the League Cup. 50 years on, the company is still going strong as it gears up for its golden anniversary year.From its beginnings in the city in 1962, the company has expanded and in 2010 opened a second store, where the celebrations began with staff dressed in period clothing and surrounded by Sixties memorabilia.

North West wholesaler Peter H Smith hosted a successful open day recently, with over 150 florists enjoying four fantastic demonstrations.
Essex Florist and tribute specialist Lesley Nash sponsored by Val Spicer Designs was hugely popular with the customers designing over 30 commercial arrangements. Bridget Snell from Forget-me-Not, Leyland said: “It was great to be inspired with new designs and even better that everything Lesley created we could sell in our shop!”Linda Carling demonstrated fabulous balloon designs with the new range of Qualatex bubbles showing that florists can create add-on sales that will never be available in a supermarket! Maurice Finn from The Greenhouse in Blackpool told us: “I’m really looking forward to the Fundamentals course that Peter H Smith will be hosting in 2012.”
